Primary fields of research

Mikkel Mailand is associated professor and head of research at Employment Relations Research Centre (FAOS). He takes part in the research group Welfare, Inequality and Mobility (WIM) at Department of Sociology.

Collective bargaining rounds in the public sector; tripartite cooperation and corporatism; EU-level labour market regulation; non-standard employment. 

Most important research contributions are, e.g.: A monography and a number of articles in high-ranking journals and edited volumes on European labour market regulation; two monography and a number of journal articles about tripartite cooperation/corporatism in work and welfare related policies in Denmark as well as in a number of other EU member states; a monography and a number of journal articles regarding recent public sector industrial relations in Denmark.

Current research

The current research includes, e.g. two EU-funded projekt. The one (BAWEU) is about employers' engagement in welfare policies (unemployment, vocational education adn training, pensions, and worklife balance). The ohter one (SOWELL) focuses on the social partners' and other actors attempts to balance budget restaints, job qaulity, servive quality and service coverage in long term care and in early childhood education and care.
