AMP and the pension system of the future

Research paper by Professor, Fil.Dr. Emeritus Jesper Due & Professor, Fil.Dr. Emeritus Jørgen Steen Madsen

There is broad agreement both nationally and internationally about the fact that Denmark have almost the best pension system. The combination of public services and collective arrangements together with private savings does that the Danish system equals what e.g. The World Bank recommends on the pension area. However, the Danish pension system also has its weaknesses. In some instances the complicated rules and the interaction between the public and the private pensions reduces the incentive to work and to save money.

The Pension Commission, established in May 2014, has as a job to find solutions on existing problems and in general examine the robustness of the Danish pension system.

In this research paper Jesper Due and Jørgen Steen Madsen – on the inquiry of the Pension Commission – points out some of the dilemmas that the pension system is facing.
