Primary fields of research

Mikkel Mailand is associated professor and head of research at Employment Relations Research Centre (FAOS). He takes part in the research group Welfare, Inequality and Mobility.

Collective bargaining rounds in the public sector; tripartite cooperation in employment policy and other policy areas; EU-level labour market regulation; non-standard employment. 

Most important research contributions are, e.g.: A monography and a number of articles in high-ranking journals and edited volumes on European labour market regulation (especially the European Employment Strategy, Europe 2020 and the Common European Flexicurity Principles); a monography and a couple of journal articles about tripartite cooperation in work and welfare related policies; and a monography and a couple of journal articles regarding recent public sector industrial relations in Denmark, including the 2013 collective bargaining round and the teachers conflicts.   

Current research

The current research includes a book project about the tripartite cooperation in Denmark; the Danish part of a European comparative project about industrial relations in the creative industries (IR-CREA); and the Danish part of a European comparative project on the effect of the economic crisis on industrial relations and quality and quantity of employment in the public sector (Barsop).
